How Life Taught Me That Health is Wealth
Once upon a time...
I was just like most people: living life, doing my thing, and thinking:
'Hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!'
I wasn’t exactly a health guru back then. My idea of “nutrition” was whatever was easiest to throw together, and supplements?
Pfft. I thought those were for bodybuilders, or people on TV, or the person at the next table making a small ceremony out of swallowing their pills.
But life has a funny way of schooling you, doesn’t it?
Life’s First Lesson: My Mom’s Journey
When I was a kid, my mom had gallbladder surgery that didn’t go quite as planned. She needed a blood transfusion, and as if that wasn’t enough of a rollercoaster, she ended up with hepatitis C because of it.
Talk about a curveball, right?
Watching her battle made me realize how fragile health can be, but I still wasn’t connecting the dots about what I could do to help.
Fast forward a few years, and I had my first “aha moment” with supplements.
Enter Herbalife, stage left.
No matter what your opinion is about that company, the fact is, my mom started taking some of their products, and I swear, it was like a little spark of life returned to her. Her liver numbers improved, and I started to see how much of a difference good nutrition (and a little supplementation) could make.
It planted a seed in my mind. Maybe this stuff wasn’t just hype.
The Wake-Up Call: My Son’s Fight with Cancer
Then came another twist:
My oldest son was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
As a mom, that’s the kind of news that rocks you to your core. Watching him go through treatments and learning about how proper nutrition could support his body was like a crash course in the importance of what we put in our bodies.
He felt the benefit too. That was the first time I understood it wasn't only about getting through something. It was about how well you come out the other side.
Life wasn’t done throwing lessons my way, though.
My Own Battle: Facing Breast Cancer
Recently, I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Yep, the big C came knocking at my door.
I went through a mastectomy and had lymph nodes removed, two surgeries in one month.
It wasn’t fun, it wasn’t easy, but you know what? It was empowering in a strange way. It forced me to take a long, hard look at my lifestyle and ask myself:
What can I do to stack the odds in my favor?
That’s when it hit me
Health is Wealth. Invest Wisely.
We can’t control every curveball life throws our way, but we can control what we eat, what we drink, and how we fill in the gaps with the right supplements. And trust me,those gaps are bigger than most people realize, especially when you're dealing with stress and everything else.
The earlier you start, the stronger you stand, for yourself and for the people who need you.
I learned that taking charge of your health isn’t about perfection; it’s about making intentional choices, one step at a time. The earlier you start, the stronger you stand, for yourself and for the people who need you.
Take the first step
You don't need to change everything at once. Pick the one thing you already know isn't working, and start there.
It won't feel dramatic. Health that improves slowly rarely does. Usually it shows up as more energy on ordinary days rather than anything you could photograph.
Consistency matters more than getting it right. The people who do well are the ones who kept going, not the ones who started perfectly.
Whatever you pick, look at the evidence before you spend money on it. I'll keep sharing what I've read and what I've actually tried, and I'll say so when the evidence is thin.
If you're ready to start, you're in the right place.
